Matt had the best childhood, racing Chris around the vineyard in anything that had an engine. At the age of 12 he won his first event in a home made sand buggy with a VW1200 engine. Matt raced Car 162 in the 2006 Finke Desert Race and he holds a CAMS National Off Road Racing Licence. He plans to compete in the AORC in the hunt for the elusive Aus No.1 title, also one day compete in the Baja 1000.
In Matt’s words:
“Why do I love Off Road Racing?? Heres why - family growing up around the sport, sitting on dads lap, wanting to be like dad, competing against my brother, The BEST excuse for the family to get together, great friendships made with other competitors, all competitors helping 1 another to repair each others car so you can RACE, heart pump on the start line, diverse tracks, exciting times for the growth of the sport, New tracks, not knowing where your going, passing other cars, Compared to the early days with the modified VW components, The performance of a modern day Off Road Race car, make them, THE MOST RADICAL THING ON 4 WHEELS YOU CAN DO IN THE WORLD!!!!!!”
