Garry's parents both raced V8 Grand National sedans in speedway while Garry was growing up. Much to his Mum's disappointment, when the time came for Garry to race he elected a form of motorsport with right hand corners as well as left! Garry started racing with Richard (at Sydney Off Road Rush) in Slotcars in 1990 and progressed to bush bashers, offroad sedans and then offroaders, with a few demolition derbies thrown in for a laugh. Richard and Garry were 2nd in class in the NSW Championship in '03 whilst sharing the driving... not bad for a car which was 21yrs old at the time! Garry and Rick have just finished a brand new A-Arm V8 buggy. Check it out here!
In Gary’s own words:
“There's nothing like off road racing! When you're flat out in top gear with your foot buried in the loud pedal, squinting into the middle distance with the engine screaming, and you're about to hit a jump that you know is about to launch you 6 feet in the air.... you really, really know you're alive! Its a serious adrenaline kick! Working for Off Road Rush lets me see the guys and girls who wouldn’t normally be exposed to the insanity which is Off Road Racing get to have a chance to see what its like. I see a whole lot of teeth behind big grins on the weekends”
